Thistledown's Eilwen of Cairngorm
Eilwen, which means "white brow" in Welsh, is a special and most unusually colored female. Sporting white booties on her front legs and a distinctive black and white facial pattern, she also has black knee length socks on all four legs. Her blanket fiber is bay black and as dense as can be, and the inside of her legs and underbelly are dark brown. Her sire is our champion silver grey herdsire, Ben MacDhui, who has exceptional density and lock structure to his award winning fleece, excellent conformation, an exquisite typey head, and a truly delightful temperament. He also has a strong grey/black pedigree reaching back four generations. Eilwen's dam, Sabrina, is a dark brown granddaughter of Accoyo Leon, out of a black dam and a grey grandsire. Sabrina has incredible fiber character, density and staple length, plus straight, heavy-boned conformation. She is an excellent mother and milker with a calm, gentle personality and both her previous offspring are MaPaca ribbon winners! Eilwen has tremendous potential and may yet turn out dark rose grey!

Awards: Will be old enough to show in Fall 2005.

Dam: Sabrina
Eilwen is the colorful daughter of two award-winning parents. She has 2 black grandparents, one a 3X AOBA blue ribbon winning silver grey and one a blue ribbon-winning dark fawn son of Accoyo Leon. Both of her maternal brothers are MaPaca ribbon winners and the only one of her sire's offspring to be shown so far took a blue ribbon in his first show!

Eilwen's dam, Sabrina, is a rich, dark brown half-Peruvian who has inherited the fiber quality, growth rate and character of her Peruvian sire, NWA, Ltd Leo, and her grandsire, Accoyo Peruvian Leon. Sabrina's dark color genetics and phenomenal density come from her black Chilean dam, Black Moon, whose heritage is all black and grey. Sabrina also has heavy bone, great conformation, a beautiful typey huacaya head and a gentle, easy-going temperament.

Sire: Ben MacDhui

Sabrina's awards: Sabrina's dense fleece took a third place at the highly competitive 2001 EVAA show, although her staple length is so exceptional that Maggie Krieger could hardly believe the fiber came from a juvenile! Her fiber also placed second in a large class at the 2005 ABC Show in MD.

Eilwen's multiple award-winning sire, Ben MacDhui is descended from a long and impressive line of greys and blacks. His sire, Request the Best, is one of the most spectacular grey herdsires in the country, a multiple blue ribbon winner who placed first at the AOBA Nationals for three successive years. From his black dam, MacDhui has inherited wonderful conformation and a grey and black pedigree going back four generations, including SA Silverado and The Silversmith. MacDhui has incredibly dense, fine, medium silver grey fiber and AOBA winning genetics to go with his gentle disposition.
