Thistledown Tristan Nikos

Iris's 16lb brown son arrived on November 19, 2009, and he is absolutely beautiful - cute, square and typey, with excellent leg coverage at birth! His exquisite fiber is a slightly lighter brown color than his dam, his skin and gums are solid black, and he has grey on his face and one black spot on his lower leg. He seems like a negative, solid rose grey - unusual, and a good solid-colored breeding prospect for a modern grey program. He has his dam's signature silky-soft handle, combined with his dark silver grey 3X Champion sire's fineness, plus beautiful crimp from both parents. He is a very good-looking young male, with the most gorgeous head, plus world class grey genetics. Tristan's bloodlines include Accoyo Yupanqui, Accoyo Felix, Peruvian Hemingway and PPPeruvian Augusto. His paternal grandsire is the renowned silver grey, Aussie Rockford, and his maternal grandsire is the Champion rose grey, McGinnis.

Dam, Iris
Tristan's dam, Iris is the blue ribbon-winning, brown / recessive black daughter of the Champion rose grey, McGinnis, who sired both the grey Color Champion female at the 2004 AOBA Nationals, and the 2005 grey Futurity Champion female. Iris is a very attractive female, with soft-handled, crimpy, uniform fiber, wonderful staple length, and good coverage. She is very balanced, with straight legs, lovely overall conformation and a perfect bite. She also has an outstanding temperament, and is a wonderful mother and milker.

She went on to win a blue ribbon in the 2007 PAOBA fleece show, a second place in both the 2007 & 2008 LA Deep South Spinoff competitions and a second place in the prestigious National Fiber to Fashion Spinoff in 2008.
