Thistledown Iris/Tundra son Thistledown "Robin" Thistledown "Teddy"
Born November 9, 2012, this young man certainly has the "it" factor. His full brother, "Skippy" had the best fiber of all our Fall 2011 crias - uniform, fine, soft-handled and dense, with beautiful architecture and crimp - and this little one seems to be following in his brother's footsteps. His dam is the brown blue-ribbon winning Iris, and his sire is Tundra, our white producer of Champion colored offspring. Boisterous good-natured and healthy, this young male has beautiful fiber and excellent conformation. He is offered as a fiber male only because he does not match our grey/black breeding profile and is related to one of our herdsires. Congratulations to Sherry, Abe and family, new owners of this beautiful young male! This black boy was born at 5.00 p.m. on December 17, 2012 and we honestly didn't think he was going to make it. His temperature was 90.8 at birth, and he was weak, so we knew he must have had a tough time making it out into the world. Dried him off, bundled him up in three cria coats, sat him on a piglet heat pad and prepared for the worst. But he turned out to be a fighter! His temperature gradually increased, we gave him supportive care for a couple of weeks, and he surprised us all. He is now a robust and healthy black youngster, with gorgeous, silky-soft black fleece. His black dam is a 4X blue ribbon-winner for her fiber, and his sire is our 3X Champion dark silver grey herdsire, PV Nikos. This little guy is available for sale as a fiber male and is a hand-spinner's dream!  Congratulations to Sherry, Abe and family, new owners of this beautiful young male! Born December 2, 2012, this son of our Champion silver grey male, Ben MacDhui is out of our white female, Chiffon, who produced the brown MAPACA 2012 / PAOBA 2012 fleece Champion. His fiber is dense, developing nice character and his dam's wonderful smooth handle. Not sure if he would show as modern rose grey, indefinite light or dark fawn, but he certainly has potential to produce quality grey offspring, so could be a really good fit for a modern grey breeding program. Maternal bloodlines include Pperuvian Victor, Sunset Hills Farm Andean Gold and PPPeruvian Augusto, while his sire's 4 generation black and grey pedigree reads like a "who's who" of the best colored alpacas in the US! We can't keep this little guy, as he is related to our grey herdsire. Congratulations to Sherry, Abe and family, new owners of this beautiful young herdsire prospect!

Thistledown "Batman"  Thistledown "Yoda" Thistledown "Grunt"
Born on December 12, 2011 and nicknamed "Batman", because his ears were inside-out at birth, so he looked like he had bat ears (he looks just fine now though)! Black with a white moon on his front left leg, Batman has fleece with handle like satin. His dam, Kerensa, is a 4X blue ribbon-winning black daughter of Compadre, and his sire, MacDhui, is a silver grey Champion and multiple ribbon-winner in halter and fleece classes. Batman has a wonderful sweet-natured personality, and beautiful soft-handled black fleece. We had to pick burrs out of his fleece and top-knot before taking this photo, and he just stood there, patiently, as if he understood we were helping him. Really nice nature! Congratulations to Sherry, Abe and family, new owners of this beautiful young male! Born on December 10, 2011, he was nicknamed "Yoda" because his ears stuck out from his head on both sides at a 45 degree angle, so he just had that "look"! His true black fiber is dense and fine with good character, and we were originally planning to keep him as a herdsire prospect, as his mother is now sold. Unfortunately, given that we own his grey Champion sire, and a number of his half-sisters, and need to restrict the size of our herd and maintain genetic diversity, he is not a good "fit" for our breeding program, so we are offering him as a fiber male. Congratulations to Sherry, Abe and family, new owners of this beautiful young male! Born backward on October 18, 2011, delivered by our vet, this little guy hit the ground running and never looked back! Nicknamed "Grunt" because of the funny little noises he made, this son of our 3X Champion dark silver grey male, PV Nikos, and our multiple blue ribbon-winning dark silver grey herd matriarch, Ishbel, was always destined for greatness! He exhibits his dam's exceptional staple length and wonderful temperament, plus his sire's exceptional fineness and hand, combined with excellent conformation and coverage from both parents. Congratulations to Lisa and James on a great herdsire choice, and thank you for allowing us to retain a few breedings :)

Magnus Trujillo Thistledown Conan Knightrider  Thistledown Duncan Nikos

Magnus is the last of his full Accoyo sire's line, and has fineness, crimp and luster in abundance. His dam, Goldie is a full Peruvian light fawn female, with crimp, fineness and beautiful consistency to her fleece, which earned her the second place ribbon in a very competitive 2003 AOBA Nationals fleece show. Magnus was sired by the full Accoyo Trujillo Alto Peru (deceased), an impressive son of Ppperuvian Mr President with exquisite fiber  - 18.6 AFD with an SD of 3.9 and 0.7 % of fibers over 30 micron at 5 years of age! We retain 5 breedings to Magnus at this price, and he has started breeding. Magnus has won numerous halter and fleece awards, including 1st out of 12 entries in the prestigious National Fiber to Fashion Spinoff, 2nd in the 2008 MAPACA Spinoff, the largest alpaca show in the US, 2nd out of 9 in the AOBA National SpinOff and first out of 13 entries at the 2008 VAOBA Expo, earning the second highest score in the entire competition! Iona's second true black Knightrider son arrived on the morning of November 3rd, a few minutes before Nola's pinto daughter. His head and chest were out while her head and legs were presenting! He is a beautiful non-fading, non-tipping true black 20lb male, with soft-handled, crimpy fiber, excellent conformation and a perfect bite. This grandson of 5Peruvian Black Ice and CPeruvian Axtion Jaxon is as strong as an ox and has a wonderful, proud presence and "look-at-me" attitude. We are selling Conan as a fiber / pet male because he does not have the fiber density we would like to see in a breeding male, but he is a good-natured young male, with true black fiber genetics, who is "bomb-proof" around people. First time he wore a full-length costume he didn't even kick once - it was like he had "been here before". Congratulations to  "the Fairy Lady", proud new owner of Conan! Blush's beautiful solid maroon son surprised us by arriving late in the afternoon on October 28, 2010. He is healthy and strong and has dense, uniform, crimpy fiber with a handle like plush velvet. At 6 months he is clearly exhibiting his dam's density, crimp, fineness and hand and his sire's fineness, uniformity and gorgeous head, so could have significant herdsire potential. This grandson of the AOBA blue winning silver grey Aussie Rockford, and maroon Champion Peruvian King Crimson, has potential to produce both rose and silver grey. His Accoyo Yupanqui and Accoyo Felix bloodlines are an asset in any colored breeding program.  Definitely one to watch - not shown in 2011 because he was small for his age, but this little guy has potential! Congratulations to  "the Fairy Lady", proud new owner of Duncan!
Thistledown Meliora Cairngorm Thistledown's Iona Jaxon Spanish Peak's Knight's Lady
This crimpy black daughter of brown halter Champion, Holly Hawk, and silver grey Champion, Ben MacDhui, has excellent "typey" conformation, plus wonderful crimp, staple length and coverage. Meliora certainly has "the look", and is like a miniature black version of her sire. This multiple award-winner is a proven producer of beautiful grey offspring, and a quality foundation female. Congratulations to Margaret and Danny on their purchase of this award-winning, proven producer, bred with Champion dark silver grey, PV Nikos. Iona is a sleek and shiny, fine-fibered, half-Peruvian, jet black Jaxon / Danko granddaughter, whose sire is the 4X Champion true black Peruvian CPeruvian Axtion Jaxon. In his first year AJ's fiber analysis was AFD 18.4, SD 3.7, CV 20.0, >30 1.4%, which is phenomenal for a true black. Congratulations and thanks to Danny and Margaret on their purchase of this award-winning black female, bred with Champion silver grey Ben MacDhui. Lady is the award-winning black daughter of Nova's Black Knight III, a Futurity Reserve Champion. Her fleece is lustrous, velvety soft, and full of uniform crimp and she is a powerhouse of top genetics, including Bueno, Drambuie, Snowmass Nova, Peruvian Casanova (rose grey), Felix and Outback Gold. Her black mother has gorgeous fleece with a CV of 13.2 and SD of 3.6 at 2 years of age. Congratulations to Margaret and Danny on their purchase of this proven producer, bred with Champion silver grey Ben MacDhui.
Thistledown "Tiny 2" Thistledown Meghan Nikos  Thistledown "Skippy"
Only 9lbs at birth on October 27, 2011, Tiny 2 was small, but strong, and has grown and gained well ever since, just like his big sister, PipSqueak. Excellent presence, stature and confirmation. His black dam, Meli, tends to birth small crias that gain quickly. Dark silver grey, just like his Champion dad, PV Nikos, Tiny 2 is a really sweet and confident little character, with wonderful, dark silver grey fleece and great conformation. Congratulations Danny and Margaret on your little heart-breaker! This fawn / indefinite light / light rose grey daughter of our dark brown blue ribbon-winning dam, Iris, combines her dam's signature silky-soft handle, with the uniformity and fineness of her dark silver grey 3X Champion sire, Nikos. This granddaughter of the AOBA blue winning silver grey Aussie Rockford, and rose grey Champion McGinnis, has potential to produce both rose and silver grey and her Accoyo Yupanqui and Accoyo Felix bloodlines are an asset in any colored breeding program. Congratulations Margaret and Danny on your beautiful new girl! Born October 24, 2011, "Skippy" probably has the best fiber of all our Fall 2011 crias - medium brown, uniform, fine, soft-handled and dense, with beautiful structure and crimp. His dam is the brown blue-ribbon winning Iris, and his sire our white producer of Champion colored offspring. Iris X Tundra. Repeated this breeding for 2012. Congratulations to Jo on the purchase of this gorgeous young male!
PC Peruvian Knightrider Thistledown "Moo" Thistledown "Galumph"

Champion, 2X AOBA National ribbon-winning, full Peruvian, true black PC Peruvian Knightrider is the son of two true black Peruvian imports, 5Peruvian Black Ice and 6Peruvian Anastasia. Knightrider has excellent conformation and beautiful dense, crimpy fiber with great staple length and handle. He produces quality black, grey and brown offspring, even out of white and beige dams! Congratulations to Margaret & Danny of VA on their purchase of our half interest in Knightrider, and thanks for allowing us to retain some breedings for our girls! First cria born in Fall 2011, Moo took us a little by surprise - we were expecting a solid or a grey, but got a black spot instead. I was running around the barn trying to see which of our patterned dams had given birth, but it turned out to be our beige girl, Bronwen. No matter - Moo is blessed with good looks and a perfect temperament, because both of his parents are sweet-natured, with wonderful "typey" conformation and great coverage. Congratulations to Jo on the purchase of this beautiful young male.
Nicknamed "Galumph", due to his habit of charging around like a baby elephant- this little guy simply cannot creep uo on you! Dark silver grey, out of two solid black parents who have always produced blacks together in the past. Iona X Knightrider. Bred Iona with MacDhui for 2012 for a change, as he is silver grey, with a history of producing black. Thanks and congratulations to Jo on her purchase of this handsome young fellow - this photo really doesn't do him justice, especially now he is shorn!
Thistledown Denzell Cairngorm Thistledown "LB" Knightrider Thistledown's Cameron Rush

Kerensa's 15lb jet black, Ben MacDhui son arrived on December 22nd. His fiber feels like velvet, and already exhibits the buttery-soft hand and tight, ringlet curls of his blue ribbon-winning black dam, Kerensa. Congratulations and thanks to Katrina and Bob of PA on their new boy! Lady's 17lb black Knightrider son arrived on November 14th and was up and nursing within the hour. He exhibits a particularly dense, soft-handled, crimpy fleece and does not appear to have any white spots. Thanks and congratulations to Bob and Katrina of PA on their new black male! Cameron is the gorgeous silver grey son of our multiple blue ribbon-winning dark silver grey female, Ishbel, and our silver grey Champion, Ben MacDhui. This young male has bone like an ox, a perfect bite and fine, soft-handled, silver grey fiber with excellent staple length. Congratulations to John of VA, proud new owner of this beautiful grey herdsire, and thanks for allowing us to retain some breedings!
Paradigm Thistledown Douglas Tundra Thistledown Tristan Nikos

A daughter of the rose grey Checkoff and a maroon dam from the '98 import, Paradigm is a very beautiful dark rose grey female. Paradigm has fine fiber, with beautiful handle, excellent staple length and a bold crimp. Congratulations to Joyce and Harold, new owners of this statuesque beauty! Lakisha's 20lb black son, Douglas, arrived on December 18, 2009. He has awesome conformation, plus, super-dense, soft and shiny fiber. This 7/8 Peruvian male, has a black blanket with one brown spot, plus a white face and socks, and is a real beauty. Congratulations and thanks to Sherry and Howard on their two beautiful new boys! Tristan is absolutely beautiful - born on November 19, 2009. He has his dam's signature silky-soft handle, combined with his dark silver grey Champion sire's fineness, plus beautiful crimp from both parents. He is a very good-looking young male, with the most gorgeous head.  Congratulations and happy birthday Sherry!
Thistledown Sheridan Knightrider Thistledown Cari Cairngorm  Thistledown Gwendolen Tundra
Iona's 21lb, super soft and shiny black son arrived on November 12, 2009. This 3/4 Peruvian grandson of CPeruvian Axtion Jaxon and 5Peruvian Black Ice is non-fading, jet black. His fiber is fine, bright and crimpy, his bite perfect, and his conformation excellent, just like his Champion true black sire, Knightrider. Congratulations and thanks to Joyce and Harold on the arrival of their third musketeer! This daughter of our Champion silver grey male, Ben MacDhui, arrived on May 15, 2010. With solid, square, typey conformation, grey genetics and a winning personality, this little lady is sweet-natured and a lot of fun to own. We would recommend breeding her with solid dark males when she is of age. Congratulations to Emma on the purchase of Cari, her new alpaca friend. Gwendolen is the recessive-black daughter of a multiple blue ribbon-winning black dam, Kerensa, and our award-winning full Peruvian white male, Tundra. Gwen has potential to produce black and grey offspring, and includes a built-in fiber upgrade from her Champion-producing white sire. Thanks and congratulations to Harold and Joyce, new owners of Miss Gwen.
Bronwen's son, Stewart Prince Arian Nola's son, George
This full Peruvian son of a black Champion is as handsome as all get out, but not exactly the color we were aiming for with this breeding! Born May 1st 2009, this little guy is beautiful and sweet-natured, with potential to produce black bred to black, but he is not a good fit for our breeding program. Congratulations and thanks to Joyce and Harold of VA, new owners of this beautiful young herdsire prospect.  Prince is an award-winning dark silver grey male with beautiful fiber and clear herdsire potential, a proud, regal presence, plus wonderful conformation and coverage. His fiber is a hand spinner's dream - fine and extremely long-stapled, with a uniform crimp style. Congratulations and thanks to Harold and Joyce of VA on their purchase of this handsome and rare-colored male. He is the full Peruvian son of two Champions - one black, one dark brown - but is not the right color for our breeding program. Born May 19th, 2009, this little guy has potential to produce black bred to black, plus dense, plush fawn fiber.
RIP George - fatally injured in a vehicle accident on the way to his new home.
Thistledown Kelvin Cairngorm Thistledown Severn Nikos Thistledown Kieran Knightrider
Price: Sold! Price: Sold! Price: Sold!
Iris's true black son, Kelvin, arrived on November 8, 2008. He has awesome conformation - strong broad neck and shoulders with heavy bone, and carries himself like a macho already. Fiber is very soft-handled, fine and crimpy and feels downright oily. Both his parents are remarkably dense, with excellent staple length and compact, heavy-boned conformation, and this little guy is built like a proverbial brick outhouse. At 4 months, he weighed 60lbs. This one is an absolute beauty, with phenomenal coverage and a beautiful head. He is the fifth black cria in a year that his Champion silver grey sire, MacDhui, has sired, out of all brown and beige dams. We retain 5 breedings to Kelvin for our own breeding program. Congratulations and thanks to Margaret and Danny of VA on their purchase of this beautiful true black junior herdsire prospect - we'll miss him!  Severn was quite the surprise, out of 3X Champion dark silver grey sire, Nikos, and our blue ribbon-winning true black dam, Lady. Born on December 13th, with a pedigree to die for - Felix, Yupanqui, Snowmass Nova, Hannaruh, Fantasy's Gremlin and Outback Gold - his coloration is most unusual. He has a bay black head, neck and lower legs, plus black fibers shot through his brown blanket, and a white "7" on his face. He is like a negative rose grey, and has wonderful conformation and presence. Interesting little guy, with lovely fine, crimpy fiber - we are looking forward to seeing him shorn, when his markings should look even more dramatic! We retain 5 breedings to Severn. Congratulations and thanks to Margaret and Danny of VA on their purchase of this beautiful junior herdsire prospect, with rare coloring and excellent fiber characteristics. Kieran is a 3/4 Peruvian, 1/4 Accoyo male, with a solid black blanket, a white head and knee length socks, plus black shoes on all four feet. His dam, Caterina, is the MAPACA fleece Champion half Accoyo granddaughter of Accoyo Camilio and Victor's VAccoyo, and even at 5 years of age, she has fiber with handle to die for - last year her fiber still felt as good as many of our award-winning yearlings. Kieran's Champion sire, Knightrider, is the full Peruvian son of Black Ice and a black dam from the 6th Peruvian importation. Kieran has crimpy, bright true black fiber that feels like spun silk. His name is derived from both Cair, Welsh for "dark", and Ciaran, Irish for "dark", "black" and we retain 5 breedings to him for our own breeding program. Congratulations and thanks to Jana and Eric of VA on their purchase of this beautiful true black junior herdsire prospect!

Congratulations and thanks to David and Bonnie of VA on their purchase of this maroon, recessive black, 15/16 Peruvian son of two colored, Champion parents. His maroon fiber is so glossy it looks and feels wet - wonderful handle, uniformity and crimp already, and we expect him to exhibit the same excellent density of both of his parents, together with their outstanding conformation, carriage and coverage.  Thanks and congratulations to Danny and Margaret of VA on their purchase of this 7/8 Peruvian, Champion true black son of our award-winning white male, Tundra. Cali exhibits extremely dense fiber, with handle like satin, plus a perfect bite and his dam's excellent, heavy-boned conformation, plus a very mellow temperament and bloodlines to die for in black. And thanks for allowing us to retain breedings for our own program!
