Thistledown Prince Arian Nikos

Prince Arian, the cria formerly known as "Grunt" arrived on March 30th 2009. He is drop dead gorgeous, with wonderful conformation and coverage, and he _definitely_ knows it! "Prince" reflects his proud presence and regal attitude, and Arian is welsh for silver. His dam, Ishbel, is a multiple blue ribbon-winner in indefinite dark, roan and silver grey classes, out of Danko, Macintosh and Peruvian Platinum lines. His sire is our 3X Champion dark silver grey herdsire, PV Nikos, the half-accoyo grandson of Felix and Yupanqui (both now deceased). Prince exhibits fine, extremely long-stapled fiber, with a uniform bold crimp style. He may show as an indefinite dark, like his dam, during his first show season, before becoming more obviously dark silver grey, as both his parents are now. If he is comfortable with being weaned in time, Prince will make his showring debut at the VAOBA show in October.

Awards: In his showring debut at only 6 months of age, Prince was color classified indefinite dark and placed second to a fawn and white patterned male at VAOBA 2009, a Level IV Show. We expect Prince to turn dark silver grey as he matures, like his dam and sire.

Dam, Ishbel
Prince's dam, Ishbel, is a beautiful bay black / dark silver grey half-Peruvian Danko & Platinum granddaughter, with wonderful fineness and density, heavy bone and a confident, personable presence. She has inherited four generations of world class grey and black ancestry from her superfine black dam, while her sire is a blue ribbon-winning full Peruvian medium rose grey with an adult micron count of 19.3 and 2.3% of fibers over 30 at his 3rd shearing.

Ishbel's awards: Ish has consistently won ribbons at major shows in bay black classes and her fiber placed first in the 2005 Virginia Classic Handcrafters' SpinOff, first out of 8 in the 2005 Mid-America Handcrafters' SpinOff, with a score of 94.5/100, second in the SpinOff at the Level 4 OABA fleece show in 2005 and second out of 7 grey entries in the MAPACA 2007 fleece show.

Champion Sire, PV Nikos

Paternal half sister, Heather
Prince's sire is Nikos, the exceptional, half-accoyo, showy son of the renowned half-accoyo silver grey herdsire Aussie Rockford, and Peaceful Valley Priya. He has outstanding conformation, a well-shaped beautiful head, extreme coverage and a dense topknot. His fleece is very, very fine and bright, with good architecture and a gorgeous dark silver grey color.

Nikos awards: Nikos has three purple ribbons to his credit, including the Championship at the 2005 Virginia Classic, Best Grey/Multi in show in the huge 2005 OABA SpinOff, with a score of 93.5/100, and Reserve Champion grey fleece at MaPaca 2006, where judge Diana Timmerman awarded his 30 month fleece 20/20 for fineness and handle. Nikos also has 9 blue ribbons to his credit, including a first place in full fleece halter at MaPaca 2005, awarded by Dr. Julio Sumar.
