We opened up our farm for National Alpaca Farm Day, on:

Saturday 29 September, 2007, between 12.30 p.m. and 4.00 p.m.

Sunday 30 September, 2007, between 12.30 p.m. and 4.00 p.m. 

Luxurious alpaca yarn and craft kits were available for sale. We enjoyed introducing so many of you to our alpacas and look forward to seeing you again next year!

After clearing nearly 6 acres of dense woodland over 2 years ago, (same as the forest in the background of this photo!), we root-raked, limed, ploughed, seeded and fertilized the soil to create this pasture. Taken in Summer 2007, this photo shows the 2500 sq. ft. barn the two of us are building from scratch, which really is a labor of love. We can't wait to move our alpacas into their new home!

Virginia Classic, Lexington, VA - March 17-18, 2007. Three blue ribbons and a third place out of 4 entries in the SpinOff competition. Our juvis were too young to enter in any halter classes at the Classic this year!

April Shearing Tour: April 1 - April 20, 2007.
This year we organised  shearing for over 1300 alpacas at 35 farms in Virginia. This is the sixth year we have scheduled the shearing route for Darren Kennedy in this area. If you need help with shearing in 2008, please email us before Thanksgiving 2007!

MaPaca Eastern Alpaca Jubilee, Harrisburg, PA - April 27-29, 2007. Our three fleece entries won the brown fleece Championship, one first place and one second place. In the showring, our alpacas won one first, one second and one sixth place at this huge show. Now 9 of our 24 foundation alpacas are Champions!

In 2007, Nola won the MAPACA fleece Championship, a blue ribbon in the prestigious AOBA National SpinOff Competition, plus two more blue ribbons, bringing her show career total to one Championship, seven blue ribbons and four second place ribbons. Nola is now bred with our black Champion, Peruvian Knightrider, for a 15/16 Peruvian cria in Fall 2007. 
Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival, West Friendship, MD - May 5-6, 2007. For more information about the largest fiber festival in the U.S., please visit www.sheepandwool.org 

PAOBA Breeder's Showcase, York, PA - May 12-13, 2007. The three very young juveniles we took to this show (6-7 months) all ribboned in large classes.

Virginia Renaissance Faire, Lake Anna Winery, VA - May 26-28 and June 2. The RenFaire took place every weekend from May 19 - June 17, 2007. We were there over the 3-day Memorial Day Weekend and one June weekend, with our alpacas, plus all the fiber and  materials to make needle-felted hats and sculptures! 

National Alpaca Farm Day, Manakin VA - September 29-30, 2007. We were open the following hours to celebrate this National event:

PAOBA 2007 - Brigit placed 4th in a large dark brown juvenile halter class at PAOBA, and sixth at MAPACA. In both shows, she was the youngest in her class.

VAOBA Expo, Manakin VA - October 27-28, 2007. Our three SpinOff entries won a first place out of 9 in the juvenile black class (Lady), a second place out of 5 in the juvenile fawn class (Magnus) and a third place out of eight in the juvenile brown class (Iris).

LA Deep South Alpaca Show, November 2-4, 2007. Three firsts and a second place out of four SpinOff entries, for Lady, Magnus, Brigit and Iris, respectively!

OABA AlpacaFest SpinOff, Columbus, OH - November 10-11, 2007. Lady placed 2nd out of all the black fiber entries in her class, and Magnus placed 3rd out of 13 entries with his 7 month shearing!
