Thistledown's Maximilian Shaddow
This solid true black male is the son of Myfanwy, our Champion maroon female with beautiful fiber, which exhibits uniform crimp, handle like silk and amazing staple length. Her dam is a MaPaca blue ribbon-winner and her sire is the true black MaPaca 2001 Reserve Color Champion, and son of the maroon 5Peruvian Camelot. In her first showring appearance, at the 2005 Virginia Classic Show, Myfanwy placed first in a class of 11 brown juvenile females, and went on to win Grand Champion, judged the best of all 23 brown females in the show. Mike Safley awarded her a second place in a full fleece halter class of 13 dark brown juvenile females at MaPaca 2005, the largest alpaca show in the country. Our "Van" has gone on to win numerous blue ribbons in SpinOff competitions during 2005 & 2006. We searched for a year to find the right male to breed with her, and finally selected the 3X Champion Dark Shaddow - one of the best true black males in the country, who beat her father to take the black Championship at MaPaca in 2001 and was selected as Reserve Dark Herdsire of the Year at the 2006 Futurity. Shaddow exhibits presence, crimp, density, fineness, uniformity, luster, conformation and coverage and his offspring have been taking the showring by storm.
