Thistledown's Little Miss Demelza
Demelza is the gorgeous 3/4 Peruvian daughter of two true black parents. She is also the granddaughter of two incredible black Peruvian herdsires - Lanark's Obsession (deceased) and 4Peruvian Black Magic. Her sire, Black Jack Jax, won 14 awards between 1999 and 2000 in halter, shorn and fleece competition, including 7 first place positions, ribbons at both the AOBA National shows and first place fleece at MaPaca 2000. Her dam, Miss Wise Obsession, has the look of a true thoroughbred, with a proud presence and dense, crimpy black fiber. Demelza has inherited exceptional conformation, crimp, coverage and black genetics from both parents and her rare bloodline makes her a genetic treasure. She is a very pretty red/brown with rose grey and white facial markings, and is currently bred with the true black Compadre, from Alpacas de la Patagonia.

Awards: Demelza placed second in the yearling composite class at MaPaca 2004, described as "the largest alpaca event on the planet, ever!", with over 1600 entries. The judge commented on her excellent topline and conformation in the showring and her fleece was judged by Mike Safley and Jude Anderson.

Demelza at 5 months
Demelza has quite a reputation to live up to. Her half sister Fiona and her half brother Jolly Jack Tar (both sired by Black Jack Jax) won blue ribbons at MaPaca 2003, the largest show in the nation! Her black granddam and her dam's silver half brother have both won national ribbons for their fiber, and her sire, Black Jack Jax is a rare black Peruvian, one of the country's most highly decorated black herdsires in shorn, halter and fleece classes. Then there's her two amazing black Peruvian grandsires - 4Peruvian Black Magic, and Lanark's Obsession (rare bloodline - deceased). This girl has class!
Compadre

Dam, Miss Wise Obsession

Demelza is currently being bred with Compadre, a "double black" son of Caballero Andante from Alpacas de la Patagonia. At 2 years of age, Compadre had a fiber analysis of 20.6 AFD, 3.4 SD, 16.5 CV and 1.2% > 30 microns, with an 8lb shearing weight.  He has a beautiful head, strong bone, solid conformation, density, luster, fineness, crimp and lock definition. Demelza's Compadre cria will have four black grandparents and a very strong heritage of top quality color.

Demelza has tremendous stature, incredibly soft, dense fleece and coverage from tip to toe. Her crimp is outstanding - all the way through the fleece on her entire body, even to the tips of her top knot! She also has that unusual vicuna pattern, believed to be linked to fineness and the ability to throw grey offspring.

Sire, Black Jack Jax

Grandsire, 4Peruvian Black Magic
Demelza has a wonderful, friendly temperament and is intelligent and calm - quite the leader among her peers. With her strong black genetics and award-winning heritage, Demelza has excellent potential as a breeding female. Her conformation is excellent, her lustrous, crimpy red/brown fiber is beautiful and her temperament is hard to beat. Demelza is very intelligent and was shown by a 9 year old in performance classes at 2 shows during 2004 and came home with two seconds, a third and a fourth place ribbon!
