Thistledown's Brigit of Legend
Brigit is the absolute image of her award-winning true maroon dam, Spring Blush, who has fine, soft-handled crimpy fiber and is the full Peruvian daughter of two maroon parents, and a granddaughter of 5Peruvian Camelot. This little 3/4 Peruvian girl is sired by the Champion silver grey, Legend's Challenger, who has dense fiber, excellent staple length and fineness, and crimp from tip to toe. After he had been breeding for 6 months, this outstanding son of 5Peruvian Royal Inca Legend had a 2 year histogram of 20.9 / 4.5 / 21.5 / 4.0 and his blanket alone weighed over 5lbs. Named after an ancient Irish Goddess, whose name is derived from the Irish word "brigh", meaning strength, Brigit was up and running around the pasture shortly after her unassisted delivery. A gorgeous true maroon with black points, wonderful fineness and crimp, plus a handle like velvet, Brigit is the result of an outside breeding, and we plan to keep her for our foundation herd. Brigit was bred with our 3X Champion dark silver grey PV Nikos in Spring 2009.

Awards: Brigit placed sixth in her first halter class, at MAPACA in April 2007, when she was just 6 months old. Judge Kevin O'Leary commented that she had wonderful fineness and uniformity throughout the blanket, but that she was the youngest in the class and still had some growing to do! At the 2007 PAOBA show two weeks later, he placed her fourth in a class of 8 and again commented on her fineness, beautiful hand and uniformity throughout the blanket. Brigit's fiber won a blue ribbon in her first SpinOff competition, the 2007 LA Deep South Show, a blue ribbon in the Spinoff at MAPACA 2008, the largest alpaca show in the US, and a blue ribbon in the 2008 LA Deep South Spinoff. In 2009 she won a second place in the extremely competitive MAPACA Spinoff - our two girls, Iris and Brigit, placed first and second out of all the male and female entries in their class!
